Our story

Fifty-odd years of Chilliwack's cars

This shop has been detailing in Chilliwack since 1974. It has changed hands once, in 2024, when Daniel and Alisia Walker took it on.

1974: a garage on the edge of town

Jim and Lillian McConnell started the business in 1974 as a small car cleaning operation run out of their garage. By 1976 it had outgrown that and moved into its first proper shop on Yale Road.

It has been detailing vehicles in Chilliwack ever since — more than fifty years, on the same trade, in the same town. Not many businesses here can say that.

What actually earned the reputation

Customers who never left.

Two of the people quoted on this site started coming here in 1979. One has brought every car his family has owned for forty years. That is not a marketing claim; it is what they wrote, with only the shop name updated.

Proof of longevity

“I've being going to Walker Mobile Detailing since 1979 on a regular, yearly basis… In looking for a professional detail shop, I soon discovered Walker Mobile Detailing and since that time and to the present, I have had a friendly, lasting relationship with Mr. McConnell.”

Proof of results

“They have taken derelict vehicles and made them new again! … Our Lexus SUV had serious bluejean stains on the beige leather that nothing else could remove. They are now back to new.”

These letters were written about the business under Jim McConnell, who founded it with Lillian in 1974 and ran it until Daniel and Alisia Walker took over in October 2024. The shop name in them has been updated to the current one and some are shortened; nothing else was changed. Read them in full.

2024: the shop changes hands

On 1 October 2024, Daniel and Alisia Walker took the business over from the McConnells. In 2026 they put their own name on it. The shop, the people and the standard did not change.

We think it matters to say that plainly. The reviews further down this site are from customers who dealt with Jim McConnell over many years — some of them for four decades. They describe the business that Daniel and Alisia inherited, and the bar it set. It seemed more honest to show you those, and tell you about the handover, than to quietly leave them there as though nothing had happened.

Still a shop, not just a van

We do both. Mobile work goes to where the vehicle already is; the building is what a driveway cannot be, with indoor bays, proper lighting to inspect paint under, and somewhere dry for a coating to cure. Keeping a building is slower to set up and costs more than working out of a vehicle. It is also the reason the work holds up.
